100 Series Sun Roof Stuck Closed

100 series sun roof stuck closed.

I know this is an 80 series thread but is most relevant to the issue i am having with my 100 series 2003. This can cost more than 800 to complete. I can live with my sunroof not working as long as it s closed. Have a 2003 100 series.

Oh no my sunroof on my toyota won t close. Well you shouldn t have opened it to begin with. Sunroof is stuck closed and has a slight leak i want to clean the drain holes out and possibly replace the gasket around the sunroof glass if needed. The track and cable work together to pull the sunroof open and closed.

Close the sunroof lid and loosen the screws on each end of the gates. A broken cable or track will require the sunroof to be removed and total replacement of the sunroof assembly. We are sure it is the jam protector as it bumped against me. Remove the trim ring that holds the sunroof opening headliner that goes all the way around the inside of the headliner once that trim ring is removed pull down on the headliner on the front side of the opening.

It kept almost closing and reopening on its own for a few minutes before it just got stuck halfway open. I recently did a desert trip and i know some sand got in there and is causing the problem as it worked perfectly before. When i turn the sunroof switch to close it the motor just clicks now. When one or both of these components break it will render the sunroof useless.

Sunroof lid retainer clip location e30 3 series shown e36 similar. Unclip the roof liner frame and push back into the opening. Can i remove the glass and put it back in with the sunroof closed. The sun roof is jammed and will not open any more than one or two inches.

I went to shut my sunroof and it was just about closed when it reopened on its own. If you have a map light or consul box you will need to remove that box to get the headliner to pull down far enough. Anyone have any suggestions. How do we get it to close.

Tilt the sunroof into vent position as far as possible then press and hold the same switch for 30 seconds until you see it move release the switch and immediately press and hold it again the sunroof will close and open fully then close again do not release the button until it reaches the closed position for the second time.

Of course our toyota shops are closed on sunday and we are on vacation and must travel home.
